Whatever happened to VR gaming?

Im still waiting for my VR suit with HMD (head mounted display). Im pretty sure the technology exists, I wonder why no one has made a good product out of it yet. Why is Microsoft wasting time on this Surface technology? wouldn’t VR gloves and video goggles be way cooler? Something like these but better. Maybe incorporate some smart ideas like what this guy came up with.
